Haguf Theatre
Haguf Theatre (Theatre of the Body) School & Stage for Physical Theatre was founded by Noam Meiri, Nelly Amar & Gil Becher. It was modeled on L'Ecole Internationale de Théâtre Jacques Lecoq in Paris, France. With the Lecoq school approval and support, Haguf Theatre joined an honorable line of schools over the world, inspired by Jacques Lecoq and his methods.
Artists like Arianne Mnouchkine, Phillipe Gaulier, Julie Taymor, Steven Berkoff, Theatre de Complicite in London, Cirque de Soleil in Canada and many others, define, in each one of their creations, the boundaries of the Physical Theatre.
Physical Theatre focuses on the integration of body, movement, space and text into one creation. It develops an actor who is not only an executor of the text but is a full partner in the creation. In Physical Theatre, the actor with his or her virtuosity work alone can build a complete and total theatrical illusion.
Haguf Theatre is the first of its kind in Israel. It directs actors, or stage performers, to become part of the whole creation and not only executors of text. It has programs for both professional stage performers and beginners' .The curriculum includes different aspects of Physical Theatre such as: Acting with Masks, Silent Theatre, Story Telling, Poetic Clown, Buffoon, Cabaret, Street theatre and Circus Skills.
Attached to the school is a stage that aims to encourage the creation of original and independent performances of Physical Theatre.
Hagud Theatre is recognized as a professional school for theatre by the Israel Ministry of Science, Culture and Sport.
